Bridge Climb
It’s a little misleading to talk about the bridge climb. There’s only one Harbour bridge, but several different variations on the climb.
The BRIDGECLIMB SAMPLER: which takes about 90 minutes, is the shortest way to tour the Sydney bridge. It does not reach the very top of the structure, which some individuals with height issues prefer, but it does go to about half this height at the bridge’s inner arch. It is limited to a reasonably small group of 12 people and includes a group photo from a designated point within the bridge structure.
BRIDGECLIMB EXPRESS: This trip is the fastest way to the top. It uses the catwalks near the south-east pylon and a staircase to the upper summit. Starting on the side nearest the Sydney Opera House the decent is made on the opposite side of the bridge (the Darling harbour side). This has the advantage of letting the climber see views from the very top over both of the sides of the bridge. With relatively few stops this trip is quite brisk and concentrates on the view from the bridge summit.
BRIDGE CLIMB (standard): also starting at the south-east pylon on the Opera House side of the bridge this tour of 14 people takes about 3 ½ hours to complete, so consider it a half day adventure. This pace is less tiring than the shorter trips, allowing the traveller to appreciate the various views of the harbour and the Bridge itself. It also includes a group photo, as well as a cap and certificate of achievement.
Once the trip is completed individuals are welcome to brows the Pylon lookout which includes an historical museum dedicated to the construction of the bridge. All bride climb include a free pass for this museum and lookout.
